Rail Insulated Joint
A high-strength rail insulating joint is constructed by placing rail-end insulators at the ends of two adjoining rails, with groove-type insulating plates clamped on either side of the joint. Two reinforced fishplates are then fitted into the recesses of the insulating plates and secured tightly together using high-strength bolts that pass through pre-drilled holes in the joint. The first type of insulating plate is a mesh-glass-fabric groove-type insulator, whose first, third, fifth, and seventh layers consist of paste-like insulating adhesive, while the second and sixth layers are made of mesh glass fabric and the fourth layer is thickened glass fabric. The second type of insulating plate is an electric-heating-element groove-type insulator; its first, third, fifth, and seventh layers are insulating adhesive films, the second and sixth layers are glass fabrics, and the fourth layer is a perforated electric heating element.
Structure and Principle
The monolithic insulated joint consists of the following components: upper and lower pipes, a sleeve, insulating elements, sealing elements, and an insulating coating. Between the mating end faces of the upper and lower pipes of the insulated joint, insulating elements and sealing elements are sandwiched to form a double-sealing structure with excellent insulation performance. The sleeve can be either welded using a bevelled joint or directly welded to the upper pipe, securely enclosing the insulating elements and the upper and lower pipes within—a “sealed container.” This design not only ensures superior insulation performance but also significantly enhances the pressure-bearing capacity of the insulation structure.
Installation Requirements
1. Within 50 meters of the insulated joint installation location, avoid having any welds that are about to be finalized;
2. After the insulated joint is connected to the pipeline, lifting the pipeline within 5 meters of the joint is prohibited. 3. The insulated joint shall be subjected to pressure testing together with the pipeline instruments.
