In piping systems, it can be connected in any direction, serving purposes such as thermal compensation, vibration absorption, noise reduction, changing the direction of medium flow, and eliminating mechanical displacement between pipelines or between pipelines and equipment. Double-flange metal bellows hoses are particularly well-suited as flexible joints for various pumps, valves, and other equipment that experience displacement and vibration.

    Metal bellows compensators are made from different metal materials depending on their intended application. Due to the variations in material composition, the performance and applications of the fabricated metal bellows also differ accordingly.

    There are two types of bellows used in metal bellows compensators: one is the helical bellows, and the other is the annular bellows compensator.

    Helical Metal Bellows Compensator

    A helical metal bellows is a tubular shell in which the corrugations are arranged in a spiral pattern. There is a helical pitch angle between adjacent corrugations, and all the corrugations are connected by a single helical line.

    Circular Metal Bellows Compensator

    A circular metal bellows compensator is a tubular shell with corrugations arranged in a closed circular ring shape, where the individual corrugations are connected end-to-end in a series of circular rings. The circular bellows tube is fabricated from seamless or welded pipe materials. Due to limitations imposed by the manufacturing process, its single-tube length is typically shorter than that of helical bellows tubes. The advantages of circular bellows tubes include excellent elasticity and low stiffness.

    As a flexible, pressure-resistant pipe fitting, the metal bellows compensator is installed in liquid conveyance systems to accommodate relative displacement between pipeline sections or between machine and equipment connections. It absorbs vibrational energy and thus effectively reduces vibration and noise. This component boasts numerous advantages, including excellent flexibility, lightweight construction, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, and the ability to withstand both high and low temperatures.

    Metal bellows, serving as sensitive elements, vibration-damping components, compensating elements, sealing elements, valve components, and pipeline connectors, are widely used in fields such as automatic control and measuring instruments, vacuum technology, mechanical engineering, power industry, transportation, and the nuclear energy industry.

The inner and outer surfaces of the bent pipe shall be smooth and free from defects that could compromise strength or appearance, such as knots, scratches, or laps. Upon detection of any defects, they shall be ground down to repair them. The reduction in wall thickness at the ground areas shall be no less than 93.5% of the original wall thickness. The ground areas must be smoothly rounded, and their defect-free status shall be confirmed by means of dye penetrant testing or magnetic particle inspection until no defects remain.
