To better position spring-supported hangers and ensure a longer service life, the method for determining the support locations of piping on tower equipment is as follows: Tower piping is typically supported against the tower wall. The first support should be positioned as close as possible to the equipment nozzle, thereby minimizing the relative thermal expansion displacement between the nozzle and the support point and reducing the reaction force caused by thermal expansion.

If the piping flexibility from the first support to the pipe nozzle is insufficient, you can adjust the pipeline routing appropriately to increase its flexibility. If the load on the first support structure is excessively high, you can install a second support structure; however, the second support should be equipped with spring supports. Regarding the positioning of spring supports and hangers for pump piping, there are many different types of pump piping arrangements.
For limit brackets, it is essential to ensure that the axis of the horizontal pipe at the pump inlet remains aligned without any offset, so that the pump outlet is not subjected to excessive bending moments. With regard to sliding supports, care should be taken to ensure that the distance between the support and the bend is not too short; otherwise, the support may become detached. Also, for large pumps, special attention should be paid to the thrust generated when the check valve closes. Robust supports should be provided near both the check valve and the shut-off valve to effectively absorb water hammer forces and gravitational loads.
Several types of spring-supported hangers: Fixed supports: A fixed support securely clamps the pipe onto a pipe support using pipe clips, and the entire support is anchored to the building’s brackets. As a result, the support prevents any displacement or rotation at the pipe’s support points. Movable supports: In addition to bearing the weight of the pipe, these supports also restrict the direction of pipe movement—allowing the pipe to move only in the prescribed direction when the pipe’s temperature changes. There are two types of movable supports: sliding supports and roller supports.
