The spacing and arrangement of supports and hangers adjacent to equipment connection points shall not only meet the pipeline’s requirements for strength, stiffness, and seismic resistance but also ensure that the maximum load, thrust, and moment exerted on the equipment connections by the pipeline remain within allowable limits. Supports and hangers should preferably be located close to areas where concentrated loads are present (such as valves and tees).
The spacing and arrangement of supports and hangers located near equipment interface connections shall, in addition to meeting the pipeline’s strength, stiffness, and seismic resistance requirements, ensure that the maximum loads, thrusts, and moments exerted on the equipment interfaces by the pipeline remain within allowable limits. Supports and hangers should preferably be installed close to areas where concentrated loads are present (such as valves and tees).

When a straight pipe section has only one support hanger, it is typically installed approximately one-third of the way up from the bottom of the straight pipe section. In this case, the first support hanger for the horizontal pipe section at the upper part of the straight pipe section can be installed within three-quarters of the distance specified by Teacher Du from Shu Shang Niao Education HVAC Design. Similarly, the first support hanger for the horizontal pipe section at the lower part of the straight pipe section can also be installed accordingly.
It can be installed within half the span of the designated distance. When supports and hangers for straight pipe sections can only be located below the section itself, the positions of the first hangers on the upper and lower horizontal sections of the straight pipe segment shall be opposite to those described above. The distances of supports and hangers on either side of a horizontal bend should ensure that at least one of them is positioned on the straight pipe segment adjacent to the bend.
